Big Move

It has been a while since I have posted…and for that I am sorry. I tend to post on Facebook instead, and have been posting some poetry on there as of late…

Also, I made a BIG move not too long ago. I moved to Virginia. Yes, that’s right, the rolling hills of the Shenandoah Valley. And they are rolling. I am getting used to it here, just settling in and making it a home. It is hard to move…leave friends landscapes and bands behind…

The truth is is that The Juniper Trees disbanded a while ago, as I decided I wanted to leave Colorado and ended up traveling through Oregon and California for about nine months. I camped outside of Yosemite for three months, which was amazing, visited friends, made new friends, slept outside, played music, and learned a great deal about myself.

But who knows, maybe I will find some Juniper Trees here.

I hope you will tune in here on occasion, as I will hopefully begin recording again soon. I recently learned one of my favorite songs, “Say A Little Prayer for You,” and I am planning to play it at my next gig, along with some Dolly Parton, Jackson Five, and any new original songs I write in a meantime.

As always I am wishing whomever reads this, peace in your heart, love in your mind…

Facebook!

I just wanted to request that anyone interested in my music please “like” my individual musician page “Jenna Herbst” so that I can start to post music updates and news there. Thank you! I think this here is the link:

By the way, I just sent out my new song for free on mp3, called How To Be With The Great Love? Email me at thejunipertrees@gmail.com for a copy. Also feel free to share any answers you have to that question, as it is a burning one of mine…

It has been a little while since I recorded a song, though actually I recorded one not too long ago that I was very happy about but it was of the spiritual variety and I shared it mostly with my family. (If you are interested in that sort of thing let me know). This one I recorded yesterday and it is a bit of a deviation from my lately folk ish bent, but it was inspired by something I heard that was so sweet…and I couldn’t tell you what it was…it’s about love, of course. So if you want a free mp3 of it let me know at thejunipertrees@gmail.com. It’s not quite done I have to add some fiddle but it will go out in the next couple of days. j

I just had to post about last night’s show because I had such a nice time with my friend Teresa Storch and all who came out. As I have said, Teresa and I have known each other about 14 years and this was our first show together! Crazy. We traded songs, sang together, and played together. Thanks to the audience who were a really eclectic group of interesting people! The Laughing Goat is one of my favorite places to play music as there is such a creative and open atmosphere.

Also, on the walls at the Laughing Goat is some really really cool art. They are marionettes, handmade from felt and other materials, inside glass boxes. You can move them around yourself if you want. They were really beautiful and I highly suggest if you live in the Boulder area that you check them out.

This Thursday night I will be at Shine with more of my band members so come out and say hello!

I just wanted to announce my next show which I am very excited about. I will be playing solo, and trading songs, with a dear friend of mine, Teresa Storch, a beautiful folk singer based out of Longmont. Teresa and I have been friends for about fourteen years, and we have NEVER played a show together. Totally ridiculous, and we are remedying it ASAP. So, we will be at The Laughing Goat coffee house in Boulder on Sunday, August 12th, from 9-11pm. Come and sit with us for a fun night of songs and stories. Opening for us will be Amy Schmidt from Lincoln, Nebraska.

Send me a request for a cover you want to hear that night to thejunipertrees@gmail.com, and I will learn it (to the best of my ability!)

And I am including a photo of a beautiful dancing bird because it is so sweet!

Hey there!

I wanted to write a post about the upcoming UMS of which The Juniper Trees will be a participant! We are very excited to be a part of this festival, that showcases some of the beautiful talent of the local music in Colorado. It is really wonderful that The Denver Post, and the city itself, does this, and offers an opportunity for us all to gather and listen to music together of people living among us in our awesome state!

We will be playing at the Skylark on Sunday, at the start of Sunday’s festival, at 3pm.

I will also be going to see Brian’s other band, Radical Knitting Circle, who play on Sunday at the Skylark at 9pm. And we will be playing with Kramer Kelling, awesome upright bassist extraordinaire!

We will have some new songs, and some old songs to play for you guys. Bring your dancing and crooning shoes y’all.

XO,

Jenna

Hi people, it has been a while since I have posted so I thought I would first of all remind you that we are playing at the Laughing Goat Coffee House in Boulder, tomorrow night, Friday.

AND, most importantly, I recorded myself playing and singing “I’ll Be There” by The Jackson Five, one of my favorite songs of all time, just ten minutes ago on my home computer. I had to share it…as I said to the mailing list, please play it for your beloved and dance with him or her in the living room.
